The University Council requires that every permanent member of staff, whether fixed term or contract (3 months or longer), be issued with an identity card bearing their photograph, surname, first names and department, and the year for which the card is valid.

Staff are required to carry their identity cards with them at all times while at the University and to produce them when asked to do so by an officer of Campus Protection Services or any other authorised member of the University community.

The identity cards of existing staff are validated annually.

New staff may apply for a staff card once their appointment details have been captured on SAP and they have taken up their appointment at the University. Staff may proceed to Access Control Services, Robert Leslie Social Science Building, 12 University Avenue between 08h30-016h00 Monday to Friday, for their new card. Please take along positive identification.

In the event of a staff member losing his/her card, a replacement card may be requested at a cost of R60. The amount must be paid in cash to the cashier in the Kramer Building. The receipt must be presented to Access Control Services in order for the new card to be issued.

Should a staff member leave the employ of the University, staff cards must be returned to the HR Department.
